The exhibition is a conversation on the connection between hair and identity in Black culture. As Black people, we live with the awareness of how the world “others” our hair. And, this “othering” automatically politicizes and controls how we show up in specific areas for acceptance and equity.

The images presented provide a glimpse into the spaces where the celebration of Black hair is normalized and focuses on the self-determination across the diaspora to define beauty and express individuality on our empowered terms.
